Hello
Jennifer Paulsen is a passionate educator with over 31 years experience as a teacher, reading specialist, and elementary principal. Her expertise in serving schools and communities led to the development of Heart and Hand Consulting where she offers Parent and Family Engagement products and a variety of school consulting services.
My Story
Mrs. Paulsen is a graduate of University of Portland, earned her masters at Pacific University, and attained her administrative credentials at Concordia University. She taught second through fifth grade, started a Title I program at a newly qualified school, and worked with five Title Schools moving from Targeted to Schoolwide Title I. The last twelve years of her service was as an elementary principal. Having an in-depth knowledge of structured literacy/Science of Reading, including full training in Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) and a reading endorsement, she has designed educational products to support schools with literacy/parent events. Jennifer also has extensive training in STEM instructional models, even serving as a member of Leadership & Assistance for Science Education Reform for Washington State and working collaboratively with Washington State University's STEM research team. Mentoring eight administrative interns allowed Jennifer to share her expertise and grow new school administrators. Recently, Jennifer was certified in Implementation Team Facilitation, using implementation science with human centered design to ensure successful, positive school improvement.
Jennifer believes that all students deserve access to high quality instruction and that parents should be active partners in their child’s education. As a former school leader, she knows the importance of great leadership and the best methods of leading innovation and continuous improvement strategies. This belief is the foundation of Heart and Hand Consulting.
